Gindo's Featured Friends: The Salt Escape

by Chris & Mary Ginder May 09, 2018

If you haven't been to The Salt Escape in Batavia you're truly missing out! From the moment you walk in, you can actually feel the stress drain from your body.

The Salt Escape is on a mission to share the holistic health and wellness benefits of halotherapy, or salt therapy. Similar to spending time by the salty sea air, salt therapy is a natural and holistic way to restore your mind and body.

We first met Tim, owner of the Salt Escape, 3 years ago at the Batavia Farmers Market, and realized we shared a passion for sea salt. The healing properties of Himalayan Sea Salt specifically are one of the many reasons we love to work with it, and why it shows up in every bottle we produce of Gindo's Hot Sauce.

Here's a description of what a session in the Salt Cave can do for your overall well-being, as written by The Salt Escape:

"The wellness aspect of the salt cave is you breathe in minerals (like calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, iodine, bromine, copper, selenium and iron) contained in the salt by both your skin and your air passageways. This will help you clear pollens, viruses, toxins and other pollutants from the body.  The negatively charged ionized salt and trace minerals that are present in the cave's atmosphere are said to naturally draw toxins and impurities out of the body, reduce inflammation, and improve respiratory ailments like asthma and COPD.

The skin is also meant to be purified, as it directly absorbs the vapors.  Salt sessions are also known to relieve stress, high blood pressure, respiratory infections, hangovers, various skin conditions and allergies.  Many people use the cave for headache issues as well.  Salt is a natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antimicrobial, which is why the benefits of the cave are not a huge shock to those informed of the healing power of salt."
