Gindo's Featured Friends: Foxtrot Organic Farms

We met Ellen and Jeff a little over a year ago at one of the Fox River Distillery's First Friday events and were immediately taken with their easy-going nature and passion for sustainable farming. It wasn't long before they asked to carry Gindo's Hot Sauces at their farmstand in St. Charles, and our relationship has blossomed ever since.

The coolest thing about them is that they are first generation farmers who are learning as they go, but you would never think it to look at them. It's incredible to see what they've accomplished with their farm in their ability to inspire people to connect with their food on a local and sustainable level.

While their farmland is small by many agricultural standards, only twelve acres to be exact, their land supports an orchard, cover crops to improve soil health, and over a 140 different varieties of USDA certified organic vegetables, herbs and cut flowers. One of the things that makes Foxtrot truly unique is that they sell approximately 95% of their produce within 10 miles of their farm. 

Foxtrot's Farmers Market is finally open for the season! Go visit them on Thursdays from 2-6pm and on Saturdays from 9-1pm. They'll have all your produce needs, as well as so much more from their partners in the Fox Valley area who provide organic meat, pasture-raised eggs, raw honey, organic breads, fresh grains, and of course, Gindo's Hot Sauces. 

We love being able to incorporate their farm fresh ingredients in some of our small batch limited release sauces. Last year, Gindo made a roasted garlic hot sauce featuring their organic heirloom garlic, and it sold out within a week. We can't wait to work with them again this year!

Located at the entrance of Primrose Farm at 5N726 Crane Road, St. Charles, IL 60175. Be sure to check GPS or your map prior to driving as you can miss this fabulous farmstand! It's just south of the intersection of Crane Road & Red Gate Road.
