The current theme is "collaborations!" For the last several months, we've been partnering with local breweries, tea companies, coffee roasters, garlic farmers and even a cidery to give you some truly unique craft hot sauces unlike any other. Two of them have even won prestigious spicy food awards. We hope you enjoy!
In May, we brought back the very first limited release that started them all, Gindo's Belizean Jerk, and we also introduced a Green Goddess Hot Sauce and Sugar Rush Creme Pepper sauce. These were super popular so we'll definitely bring them back again sometime!
In June, we not only featured new sauces like the roasted Jalapeno Hatch, Citrus Pale Ale, and Sweet Bourbon, we also introduced our very first beer collaboration hot sauces with Solemn Oath Brewery from Naperville, IL - Punk Rock for Heat Heads, Unholy Fire Water, and Snaggle Tooth Ghost Pepper hot sauces, all infused with their delicious craft beers.
July craft hot sauces included three incredibly unique tea infusions with our favorite local tea shop The Tea Tree in Batavia, Illinois: Oolong Peach Tea Scorpion, Moroccan Mint Tea, and Meyer Lemon Tea Malice hot sauce. Mmm all this tea and beer, anyone feeling thirsty AND hungry? Gindo's has got you covered!
Sidenote, we also took some time out mid-summer to throw a Gindos pool party for our amazing team. None of these sauces would be possible without their support, so a quick shoutout to all of them! Hurray for Team Gindos!
Back to our sauces. In August, we participated in Asia Festival at the Morton Arboretum so we decided to create three unique Asian-inspired sauces that touched on all five senses: Hmong Pepper Sauce (back again after winning the 2017 Golden Chili Award at the Texas Fiery Foods Challenge), Sesame Cilantro, and the fan favorite, Garlic Serrano hot sauce.
August was also the third annual Midwest Garlic Fest, one of our favorite annual events that takes place in Elizabeth, Illinois. This year, we partnered up with Galena Garlic Company on a collaboration hot sauce featuring their fresh garlic scapes and fiery bhut jolokia peppers. We dubbed it the Galena Scape Ghost Pepper Sauce.
Flavors of late summer and early fall inspired the September box with their aromatical, botanical, fruity, earthy and savory notes. The speziato Taormina Mediterranean inspired sauce with fresh tomatoes and kalamata olives, Porcelain Music with fresh locally grown organic garlic from Garlic Breath Farm in Elburn, IL, and Blueberry Yuzu, a new take on the Blueberry Habanero sauce from last fall.
We then partnered with Alter Brewing from Lombard, IL to create three savory craft hot sauces: Roasted Garlic made with their Hopular Kid Pale Ale, Devil's Pumpkin Ghost Pepper infused with their Festbier, and Herbal Remedy infused with their Alterior Motive IPA beer. Herbal Remedy took 1st Place for Best Mild Hot Sauce at the 2019 International Flavor Awards!
We closed out September with one of our favorite breweries, Maplewood from Chicago, IL. This beer hot sauce collaboration was featured at the Beerhoptacular event with Lou Dog Events at Vertiport Hangar, and we basically infused Maplewood's Charlatan Pale Ale with locally grown habanero peppers and fresh squeezed citrus juices.
This month of October brought back the popular Friendly Ghost pepper hot sauce, as well as the new Fresno Pepper Sauce, and Hickory Smoked Serrano infused with Maple Syrup from Millie's Pancake Shoppe in Addison, Illinois.
Stay tuned for our upcoming November Box! It's the 5th Annual Ghost of Christmas Hot Sauces featuring over a dozen varieties of locally grown bhut jolokia peppers in three fiery and flavorful craft hot sauces: Gindo's Ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
